Columbia University Department of Ophthalmology and New York City Ballet (NYCB) invites you and your children to participate in a one-hour movement workshop especially for children with low-vision and visual impairments.
In this pilot program, NYCB artists will guide children in movement activities and choreography with live piano accompaniment.
Each participating child will be paired with a volunteer “buddy” from Columbia Medical Center who will offer assistance with mobility and stability throughout the workshop. No prior dance experience needed! Siblings are encouraged to participate, or they can elect to be a part of the audience along with parents, who will be seated in chairs in the studio throughout the program. As this is a pilot program, we will ask only for your candid feedback following the event.
