On Friday, June 3, 2016, members of the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute (HEI) gathered to celebrate the reopening of its newly redesigned entry and lobby.
Joined by many physicians, nurses, staff, HEI administrators, architects, contractors, CUMC administration, NYP leadership and others, HEI Chair, Dr. Jack Cioffi marked the milestone during a brief ribbon cutting ceremony commemorating the occasion.
“I am especially thankful that Dean Goldman and Andria Castellanos joined us to help manage the gigantic pair of scissors that was employed for the big event,” Dr. Cioffi said.
He also added that the most exciting part about Friday’s event, is that there is still much more to come. In the coming months, Dr. Cioffi noted that the resident clinic will open its doors from a new location within the building, a new photography suite will make its debut and the Institute’s Donor Wall, honoring the center’s many generous patrons, will be christened.
Dr. Cioffi added, “And we may have a few more surprises yet to be revealed!”
The lobby, which is accessed through the Institute’s 635 W. 165th Street entrance, is now reopened and accessible to the public.
