Steven Rosenberg, MD, to join Columbia as Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology

The Department of Ophthalmology is pleased to announce that Steven E. Rosenberg, MD, will be joining Columbia Ophthalmology as the new Division Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the next Anne S. Cohen Endowed Professorship of Pediatric Ophthalmology. Dr. Rosenberg has more than 25 years of experience specializing in all facets of pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, including pediatric cataract surgery and complex adult and pediatric strabismus. He is an experienced division administrator, serving as the Co-Director of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus Service at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai. As the Anne S. Cohen Professor, Dr. Rosenberg will follow an illustrious group of leaders: John T. Flynn, MD, Michael Chiang, MD, and Steven Brooks, MD, all of whom have made vast contributions to our field and moved pediatric ophthalmology forward.

Dr. Rosenberg received his undergraduate education at Harvard University. He is an alumnus of Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons where he obtained his medical degree with honors in 1995. After his ophthalmology residency at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, he completed his postdoctoral training with a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus with Zane Pollard, MD, at the James Hall Eye Center, Scottish Rite Children's Medical Center. In his present role, Dr. Rosenberg has been instrumental in resident education and has received seven awards from trainees for Outstanding Teaching and Dedicated Service in addition to the John S. Hermann, M.D. Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2020.
