Dermolipoma

Dermolipoma
  • A common form of congenital dermoids: tumor-like lesions that are present at birth and may or may not enlarge over time
  • Composed of normal elements which are not normally found at the site of development

Clinical Features

  • Asymptomatic, depending on the location may induce astigmatism
  • Signs:
    • Unilateral
    • Pink to yellow, soft, rounded mass at the lateral canthus
    • Located subconjunctivally and may extend back into the orbit or anteriorly to the limbal area

Management

  • Observation
  • Surgical removal for cosmetic reason
