Refractive surgical procedure which produce a predictable alteration of the recipient corneal curvature by inserting two segments of an intrastromal refractive device into cornea stromal channels.
Indication: eyes with refractive errors from -1 to -4.50 D.
Side Effects
Peripheral corneal haze, which is usually not visually significant
Lamellar channel deposits of collagen and proteoglycan due to the wound healing process
Microperforation or tear of Descemet's membrane may occur during dissection of the stromal channel
Irregular astigmatism has also been reported
Other rare complications such as persistent focal corneal edema and poor visual acuity have prompted explantation of the device
