Iris Mamillations

Iris Mammillations 

  • A rare condition
  • Usually unilateral and occurs sporadic

Clinical features:

  • Symptoms: 
    • Asymptomatic
    • May cause increased intraocular pressure
  • Signs:
    • Distinctive smooth conical and villiform (tiny nipple-like) elevations with uniform height and a regularly spaced arrangement
    • Overlie areas of hyperpigmented iris
    • May partially or totally cover the anterior surface of the iris
  • Has been associated with oculodermal melanosis
  • May sometimes be confused with iris nodules seen in neurofibromatosis 1
