Dry Eye

Dry eye post LASIK surgery.
  • Very common complaint post LASIK surgery.
  • Regarded as caused by decreased corneal sensation due to disruption of corneal nerves during the flap creation.
  • Worse with superior hinge flap as opposed to nasal hinge flap.

Clinical Features

  • Symptoms:
    • Mild to debilitating dry eye
    • Mild to severe blurry vision
  • Signs: superficial punctate keratopathy.

Management

  • Surface lubrication.
  • Punctal plug for refractory cases.
