Weiss Ring

Weiss' Ring
  • Peripapillary glial tissue that remains attached to the posterior vitreous cortex following posterior vitreous detachment.
  • Histopathology: composed of fibrous astrocytes and collagen.

Clinical Features

  • Commonly gives symptom of floaters as the ring floats in and out of the visual axis
  • Signs: partial or complete grey-brownish ring commonly seen during fundus examination
